Super Sue.

When my eldest was small, I didn’t know what each day would bring. I was drained walking on eggshells to keep calm and peace in our home and consumed by huge guilt as I didn’t have the time or energy to spend with my second child.
I felt at a loss to understand my eldest’s behaviour and didn’t know which way to turn.

I reached out for support - and the health system failed us.

Every session focussed on the actual outside behaviour and didn’t help me to understand what was going on inside her brain and body. She was highly spirited, strong willed, adventurous, full of energy, a risk-taker, and a perfectionist. I couldn’t understand the way her logical mathematical brain processed the world.

If I knew what I know now about brain development, I would have worked with her temperament not against it.

If we’d been taught problem solving, calming strategies, and other tools to manage her big emotions, we could have worked as a team and our relationship would have flourished. Instead, I felt judged, unheard, and like a complete failure as a mum (the one thing I had longed to be).

I want other parents to feel heard and empowered. I am all about guiding them to connect with their child and comprehend their challenges.

I always start my workshops with this sentence,
“Put your unique child in your head”.

It’s never one size fits all when working with children: we need to find out what makes our children tick, their likes and dislikes, their strengths and weaknesses, how they deal with failure or success.
Then we can work together to build life-long skills.

I live and breathe understanding children.
I have worked for thirty-nine years, as a trained NNEB. Fourteen of those years for the NHS. This is where my passion for all things toileting grew with yearly bowel and bladder training, and working hands on with families and writing lesson plans for schools.

I’m here to create fun in the craziness of parenting and help you develop the confidence, skills and knowledge to understand your child’s behaviours.

My mission, values and vision.

My daughters and I.
